Hi,
I am Carlijn Rendering
I'm a 25-year-old master student of Industrial Design Engineering at the University of Twente, and I am currently in the final stage of my studies. My academic journey started with a BSc in Creative Technology at the same university and over the last few years, I have built a solid technical foundation. My education has equipped me with not only rational and analytical thinking skills, but also a ‘design thinking’ mindset, where emotional and cultural aspects become important.
During my master's, I specialized in and got really passionate about brand management. Furthermore, I also followed courses in packaging design and management—a design discipline that immediately captured my interest. Packaging design is a broad and multifaceted field, rapidly evolving and more relevant than ever due to the increasing demand for sustainable solutions, the need to meet legislative requirements, and the ever-changing expectations of consumers.

In collaborative projects, I am committed to maintaining a critical mindset and setting high standards for myself. I approach projects with an eye for detail and a focus on nuances, particularly when it comes to design aspects and visualizations. I consider myself to be disciplined, driven and organized, yet also a creative spirit who dares to think outside the conventional box at a conceptual level. DESIGN IS EVERYWHERE, and I believe that it is not only about shaping forms but primarily about imbuing them with meaning. Users shape technology just as technology shapes its users. I strive to design innovative and sustainable solutions, keeping Dieter Rams' ethic "less, but better" in mind.

Beyond academics, I enjoy spending time outdoors, which provides a welcome balance to my predominantly sedentary, computer-focused work life. Cooking, particularly Middle Eastern cuisine, is a passion of mine where I love experimenting in the kitchen and, of course, sharing the results with friends & family. My creative passions also extend to hands-on hobbies, including ceramics, painting, photography, etc. Furthermore, I am an avid music maniac. In 2020, this love for music, combined with an appreciation for art and culture, truly came to fruition during a board year, when I had the opportunity to organize Stukafest.
